The Annual Letter Carriers' Food Drive
On Saturday, May 10th we
ask that everyone in the Albuquerque area put food out
at their mailboxes as donations to help feed the poor and hungry in the
metro area.
For more than a decade, the National Association of
Letter Carriers, the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, and the
U.S. Postal Service have teamed up to collect food donated by postal
customers. Ten stations will participate in this year's drive. The
letter carriers will bring the donated food in from their routes while
Food Bank volunteers & staff process the donations on the dock and load it
all into trailers destined for the Food Bank on Saturday evening.
This is a very important food drive for those in
need in our area. At this time of year, food supplies are
typically low and, with the ever increasing demand, our area food pantries need more supplies to feed families during the
summer after school
is out.
Please put out some of your excess food items on
Saturday, May 10th to help our pantries feed the hungry this summer.
GREAT IDEA!
Don't have any extra food at the house? Don't
have time to go to the market? Not going to be at home on
Saturday? Don't worry, there's another great way to participate in our
Food Drives!
Try our "Virtual Food Drive!" This is a
wonderful opportunity to
participate in food drives without even going to the market!
