Special Initiatives

As the largest food bank in New Mexico, Roadrunner Food BankĀ® is at the forefront of ending hunger in our state as we work with a network of hundreds of member partner sites to distribute food to low-income and at-risk New Mexicans. In addition, we have created several special initiatives that complement our mission and enhance the work we do. These special initiatives include:

  • Reducing energy costs and improving operational efficiencies at the food bank.
  • Providing job training internships for members of our community who are re-entering the workforce or re-training to gain additional job skills.
  • Sourcing, acquiring, and distributing nutritious food such as fruits and vegetablesĀ and other quality perishable food items.
  • Reducing food waste through food rescueĀ and establishing Ā food waste relationships with other companies and organizations in the area.

At Roadrunner Food Bank we are committed to being good citizens in our own neighborhood. We believe each of these special initiatives contribute to the well being of Albuquerque and New Mexico, whether it’s by lowering our carbon footprint; offering job training to those seeking re-training opportunities; or providing access to food for New Mexico’s low-income hungry children, seniors, and families.
